Hedgehog Technologies Welcomes Dr. Andreas Huster as Partner

Hedgehog Technologies is pleased to announce that Dr. Andreas Huster, PhD, P.Eng., FS Eng., has been appointed Partner, joining the firm’s ownership group alongside CEO Michael Wrinch and COO  Younes Rashidi. The appointment reflects Andreas’s longstanding leadership, technical excellence, and central role in shaping Hedgehog’s work in safety-critical engineering.

Dr. Huster serves as Director of Engineering at Hedgehog Technologies and brings more than 25 years of experience in electrical engineering, control systems, and the delivery of high-reliability systems where failure is not an option. He holds a PhD and MASc in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and is a TÜV Rheinland–certified Functional Safety Engineer.

Throughout his career, Andreas has led and contributed to landmark multidisciplinary projects across marine, subsea, and amusement ride sectors. His portfolio includes the engineering of the PRM-1 Falcon submarine rescue system, the BP Wolfspar seismic source, and pioneering work on robotic amusement rides and special-effects roller coasters. These projects exemplify his ability to navigate novel technical challenges while maintaining the highest standards of functional safety and system integrity.

Andreas is widely recognized for his expertise in managing technical risk for safety-critical and mission-critical systems. His work spans functional safety engineering, advanced control systems, robotics and automation, and complex system commissioning—often at the intersection of emerging technology and rigorous regulatory requirements.

In addition to his project leadership, Dr. Huster plays an active role in advancing the engineering profession. He serves on the ASTM Committee F24 Risk Assessment Task Group and the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) High-Tech Advisory Group, contributing to the development and governance of standards for safety-critical systems. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia and the State of Nevada.
