system controls update for large crane

Client: Confidential (NDA)
Location: British Columbia
Industry: Industrial Automation & Controls

The Project:

Due to a failed HMI and insecure operating system, a large crane used for picking up medium-sized ships had been deemed non-functional. Hedgehog had the objective of updating the crane software and troubleshooting the system to return it to normal operation.

The Challenge:

The inoperable crane had an isolated IT system to protect it from external intrusion and the programming was designed in a non-English language. This presented a challenge to understand the interface.

The Solution:

Hedgehog upgraded the crane with a compatible computer system. Then a new HMI was selected and the initial program was replicated on it using an up-to-date version of the software.
