The Project:

The client had experienced incidents of pedestrians being shocked from street lights as a result of metal pole contact voltage. The assessment was to determine the cause and offer risk mitigation strategies to create safer street light systems.

The Challenge:

With 24-hours of continuous power running through the street light poles, there were potential shock hazards due to failing wiring systems and absent bonding conductors in older branch circuits within them.

The Solution:

Hedgehog completed a risk assessment using a mix of asset records, assessments, and mapping. An accompanying heat map was created to highlight the highest risk zones for contact voltage which the client used to support their risk management efforts.
