Industrial PLC Programming Engineer (POSITION FILLED)

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a seasoned PLC programmer with a strong ability to think at a system level while maintaining a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Design and program PLC/control systems including panel layouts and schematics with a rigorous design process including documentation of interfaces, function blocks, state machines, etc.
  • Be familiar with IEC 61131-3 standards for PLC programming, having experience in the Allen Bradley RS Logix 5000 and/or Siemens STEP 7 V12 or later programming environments.
  • Understand TÜV Functional Safety requirements, safety programming and the application of ISO 13849/ISO 62061. The programmer will assist with safety analysis and development of safety related control functions.
  • Be fluent in ladder logic, structured text, FBD, and sequential function chart languages
  • Have experience in creation of usable, neat, visually appealing HMI screens (examples of past work would be helpful) in FactoryTalk View ME/SE/Studio and/or Siemens WinCC environments.
  • Be a team player who is capable of working independently and not afraid to make decisions.
  • Create testing procedures, contribute to the development of thoroughly complete test plans, and oversee construction and commissioning of electrical equipment
  • Develop and improve our internal procedures as part of our continuous improvement process
  • Strive to be a leader on our design team and support the development of our junior engineers and designers and technologists
  • Have an eagerness to learn new skills and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and other international codes, e.g. IEC and NEC.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PLC programming preferably with Allen Bradley systems.
  • Understand PLx and SIL assessments and design philosophy IEC61508/ISO13849 etc.
  • Field experience and ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD
  • Available for domestic and international travel

Electrical Test Engineer / Technologist (POSITION FILLED)

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have extensive practical hands on field experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Read, review and update electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Be quality focused with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Work independently when required, but also as part of a team to build and commission electrical controls and components in a fast-paced industrial setting
  • Know how to think at a “system level”, will understand the impacts and requirements of testing, and will contribute to the development of thoroughly complete test plans.
  • Have experience in low and medium voltage environments
  • Lead the creation of test procedures and writing test reports.
  • Perform QA, FAT, SAT testing, trouble shoot and problem solve in real time
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering design teams to improve component design and manufacturability of panels and equipment
  • Provide exceptional and responsive customer service to our clients.
  • Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with subcontractors, possibly overseeing subcontractor’s work.
  • Develop and improve our internal procedures as part of our continuous improvement process
  • Have an eagerness to learn new skills and technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering or Technologist degree from a recognized institution and/or comparable relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferably in the field.
  • Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code and other international codes.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Available for domestic and international travel.

Electrical Technologist (POSITION FILLED)

The ideal candidate will:

  • Build control panels and install electrical equipment
  • Have extensive practical hands on field experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Read, review and update electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Provide creative solutions relating to assembly of components and industrial electrical systems in non-standard configurations or applications.
  • Be quality focused with a meticulous attention to detail, having demonstrated an ability to create accurate, safe, neat, maintainable installations (photos of past work would be helpful).
  • Work independently when required, but also as part of a team to build and commission electrical panels and components in a fast-paced industrial setting often on very tight schedules
  • Have experience in low and medium voltage environments
  • Assist in the creation of test procedures and completing test reports.
  • Problem solve in real time
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering design team to improve component design and manufacturability of panels and equipment
  • Provide exceptional and responsive customer service to our clients.
  • Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with subcontractors, possibly overseeing subcontractor’s work.

    Have an eagerness to learn new skills and technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in an Electrical Engineering Discipline from a recognized institution and/or comparable relevant experience.
  • Desirable if candidate has completed an industrial electrician apprenticeship program
  • ASTTBC registration or eligibility
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code and other international codes.
  • Available for occasional travel
